How To Enjoy Summer in the City
Summer is just around corner, and here at C&A we’re looking forward to long days, warm nights, and some of the most exciting events of the year. Check out our round-up below for the most anticipated seasonal happenings.
PIFA
Kick off the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts with a dazzling opening gala May 31st. PIFA celebrates the limitless spectrum of art that our city has to offer with events spanning throughout 11 days. Enjoy over 50 performances in dance, music, comedy, and more.
Wawa Welcome America
Wawa Welcome America is hosting 7 days of 50+ free events, including block parties, concerts, fireworks, and more in honor of the City of Brotherly Love. Kick off Independence Day 24 hours early on the streets of Philadelphia for Philadelphia’s Historic District Block Party. Celebrate all day long on July 3rd with food vendors, live entertainment and children’s games for a day filled with Philly pride and fun. Followed by the can’t miss, annual POPS on Independence free concert on Wednesday, July 4th.
Ball on the Square
Mark your calendar for Thursday, June 21st. Dress to impress at the Ball on the Square, hosted annually by the Friends of Rittenhouse. Experience magic as the square is transformed into an elegant ballroom for dinner and dancing during the Friends of Rittenhouse’s largest fundraising event. And for the first time ever, the Young Friends of Rittenhouse Square will be hosting their own ball on the Square the following day on Friday, June 22nd.
Tropicana Chelsea Opening
Just when you thought Atlantic City had it all, Tropicana acquired the Chelsea Hotel and will introduce an array of new restaurants, connected by a Skybridge. Here’s what you can expect: Cabana Five Bar & Pool Deck, Oasis Pool, Whiskey Five Pub with a billiards table, Chelsea Five Gastropub and more.
Center City District Sips
Center City Sips is a summertime favorite for professionals across the city. This seasonal happy hour tradition features discounted drinks and appetizers in more than 75 restaurants and bars throughout Center City.
40th Street Summer Series
BYO blanket and don’t miss out on one of the four free live music concerts that take place once a month this season. The al fresco space on 40th and Walnut transforms into your favorite lawn chair concert venue on June 17th, July 22nd, August 19th and September 16th.
Made in America Music Festival
The time has come again for Budweiser’s Made in America Festival, helmed by adopted Philadelphian Jay Z. This summer tradition brings Philly together for two days of live music from dozens of top performers. Click here for updates on this year’s headliners and more.
King of Prussia Town Center Summer Series
The King of Prussia Town Center is your one-stop-shop for all things outdoors this summer. Bring the family and enjoy the free outdoor music and movie series on Thursday evenings, or roll out your mat Tuesdays for outdoor yoga happy hour, followed by post-class specials from KOP Town Center restaurants.
Wine Tasting & Pasta Making at Scarpetta Philadelphia
Enjoy an exclusive opportunity to go into the kitchen of Scarpetta Philadelphia with Executive Chef Michael Loughlin for an intimate pasta-making demonstration and tasting. For $75 per person, guests can learn how to hand-make Scarpetta’s signature spaghetti from scratch while sipping on fine wine, indulging in light canapes and enjoying a behind the scenes tour of Scarpetta’s state-of-the-art kitchen – all you need to bring with you is an appetite!
