Giving Tuesday 2023

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Today and every day, we are reminded of the incredible reasons we must be thankful. This season, C&A is especially grateful for all the incredible organizations that continue to better our community. Attic Youth Center
The Attic Youth Center’s mission is to create opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ+) youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community and to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ+ youth in society. Founded in 1993, The Attic grew from a weekly support group into a nationally recognized multi-service nonprofit which today serves about 500 youth annually. Asian American Journalists Association
For over 40 years, The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) has continued to advocate on behalf of AAPIs in the newsroom on the front lines for stronger representation and more inclusion. As a membership nonprofit with over 1,500 members across the United States, AAJA seeks to support one another and encourage more AAPIs to pursue journalism. B Inspired
B Inspired is a non-profit, committed to working with underserved Philadelphia school students by increasing access to and interest in existing enrichment experiences and opportunities, including wellness and athletics, academics, arts, community engagement, and overall well-being. In partnership with Heights Philadelphia, a non-profit that gives Black, Brown, and first-gen scholars educational programming that unlocks academic and professional results, as well as a network of people who believe in them, Philadelphia’s most under-resourced students and their families will receive a delivery of healthy food during the holidays. BlackStar
BlackStar creates the spaces and resources necessary to uplift the work of Black, Brown, and Indigenous artists operating beyond the confines of genre. The organization achieves this by producing year-round programs, including film screenings, exhibitions, an annual film festival, a filmmaker seminar, a film production lab, and a journal of visual culture. These initiatives offer artists opportunities to develop viable strategies for collaborations with other artists, audiences, funders, and distributors. BlackStar prioritizes visionary work that is experimental in its aesthetics, content, and form, building on the contributions of elders and ancestors to envision a new world. The organization aims to elevate artists who are often overlooked, invisibilized, or misunderstood, celebrating the diverse spectrum of aesthetics, storytelling, and experiences they bring. Change our future
Change our future is a youth development organization founded by Rodney and Erika McLeod that seeks to remove barriers and labels placed on underserved communities by empowering people through education, advocacy and awareness. Their programs are structured to engage and challenge their students to become agents of change and leaders of tomorrow through innovative experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. They bring cultural awareness and diverse experiences to ensure equitable representation is at the forefront for their students in the areas of leadership, mentorship, literacy, healthy lifestyles and community enrichment. Children’s Crisis Treatment Center
Through passionately serving the emotional needs of children and families beginning in early childhood, the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center (CCTC) helps children meet their full potential, regardless of their challenges. CCTC is the region’s leader in providing quality children’s mental health services, training, education, and advocacy for best practices. Chris Long Foundation
The Chris Long Foundation focuses on two fundamental needs that under-served and under-resourced neighbors in the United States and around the world are unable to access freely – clean water and a good education. Friends of Rittenhouse Square
The mission of Friends of Rittenhouse Square is to protect, preserve, and beautify the iconic, landmark park. Membership funds enable the Friends to continue to provide the park’s basic services such as landscaping, graffiti removal, a dedicated park ranger, bench repair, supplemental seasonal maintenance staff, sidewalk sweeping, and excess seasonal trash removal. Garces Foundation
Founded in 2012, The Garces Foundation is a community-based, non-profit organization that is committed to providing healthcare, education, and support to Philadelphia’s immigrant population, in order to empower them to fulfill their potential as citizens and enjoy the highest quality of life. The Graces Foundation runs four key initiatives for immigrant populations, including English for Restaurant and Everyday Living, Community Health Days, Garces Foundation Food Pantry, and Sonrisa Dental Program. PAWS
As the city’s largest rescue, PAWS is dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless and at-risk animals, providing low-cost, basic veterinary care for pet owners and rescue organizations that cannot access or afford proper care. Philly Fights Cancer
Founded in 2015, Philly Fights Cancer has raised over $50 million for research and clinical trials at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center. Welcome America is a non-profit organization in a public-private partnership with the City of Philadelphia which seeks to enhance the resident and visitor experience through citywide events that provide economic boost to the local economy. Work to Ride
Work to Ride (WTR) provides activities that promote discipline, self-esteem, motivation, social development, life skills, academic achievement, and physical fitness through year-round equestrian programs that encourage long-term participation.
