Public Relations Case Study: Hunt Auctions Babe Ruth Collection
Hunt Auctions selected Cashman & Associates to drive strategic, wide-spread national and international PR surrounding the Babe Ruth Collection at Public Auction, which became the most significant collection of sports memorabilia in history. To introduce the collection, C&A—on behalf of Hunt Auctions— worked alongside Babe Ruth’s granddaughter, Linda Ruth Tosetti; grandson, Tom Stevens; and the New York Yankees to plan, execute and emcee a highly successful press conference at Yankee Stadium, which resulted in more than 70 features in top-tier publications including Yahoo! Sports, Forbes, MLB.com, New York Post, and more.
Following the press conference, C&A continued to drive pre-auction buzz in the press and aided in producing the main-event. C&A secured and managed all press during and after the iconic live auction event, which included the world-record breaking $5.64 million dollar sale of a professional model Babe Ruth jersey. Our on-site and post-auction media campaign resulted in 374 unique feature articles totaling more than 11.1 billion impressions in the world’s top news outlets including Associated Press, NBC Nightly News, USA Today, CNN, Sports Illustrated, FOX Business, CNBC, and more.
