Q&A: Dr. Jennifer Caudle
You’ve seen her on Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray, The Today Show, and more but we’ve got the exclusive with our go-to health and wellness expert, Dr. Jennifer Caudle, on all things health, fashion, and summer-sips.
Tell us a little bit about yourself: (where did you go to school, what is a day in the life as Dr. Jen like?)
I attended Princeton University and went to medical school at UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine. I’m a Family Physician and Associate Professor at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and I am also a television health expert.
Each day for me is different- which I love! Two days per week I see patients and teach medical residents. Another day out of the week I teach a course for 3rd year medical students. The other days, I discuss health topics on local and national news networks such as Fox News, CNN, the Dr. Oz Show, Rachael Ray and others along with local news outlets such as Fox 29 Philadelphia News. I also contribute to local and national publications – Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Prevention Magazine, etc.- about health stories, and I write health articles for CNN.com/Opinion, among others.
What are your top, summer health tips?
Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen! Sun Safety is one of the most important things we can do because the sun not only increases our risk for skin cancer but can cause premature signs of aging. I apply sunscreen, wear big floppy hats and try to avoid the sun during the hottest times of day to keep my skin protected!
Who are your favorite fashion designers (national and local)?
I’m a big Nicole Miller fan – her dresses are perfect for television and everyday life! I also love Nanette Lepore for feminine silhouettes, Helmut Lang for structured pieces and St. John for a more classic look.
What are your favorite summer cocktails?
The “French 75” is my go to cocktail – love this! I will never pass up a good Rosé though! 😊
What are the diet and exercise tips/tricks you’re living by this summer?
I’m always inspired by our beautiful city and I love to be outdoors, so one of my main forms of exercise is walking – whether it’s going for a dedicated walk or running errands around town, walking helps me clear my mind and stay active.
Where are your favorite places to dine?
I eat at Parc every week – sometimes multiple times per week! It’s such a great place for meeting with friends, enjoying the beautiful Rittenhouse Square and eating great food.
I also love tacos, so you can find me in any Philadelphia restaurant that has great tacos – and there are many!
