Bringing the Past into Our Present
Take a look around your parents’ home and you’re likely to find a piece of furniture, a painting, a lamp or a piece of serving wear that’s been passed down from generation to generation bringing the legacy of the past to your family’s present. Although we sometimes tend to overlook these items as nothing more than “old” or “outdated”, they are truly the manifestation of the moments that have brought us to where we are today. From an American flag given to your great grandmother in honor of your great grandfather’s military service to a china cabinet purchased by your grandfather to house your grandmother’s most precious possessions, each of these items holds a story that is begging to be told. And now, more than ever, we owe it to ourselves to seek out these stories, both in our own homes and in the world around us.
The Philadelphia Antiques Show presents the perfect opportunity for young people and adults alike to discover how these pieces from the past can be used to transform their present. The Show, which returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center from April 26-29, brings with it more than 50 exhibitors offering unique furnishings and decorative arts that would be the perfect addition to any modern American home. Whether they’re looking for paintings, prints, maps, textiles, porcelains or jewelry, there is a story waiting for everyone.
We can’t wait to discover the endless, one-of-a-kind pieces that will be on display at this year’s Show and we hope to see you there!
