Tales of the Thirsty Sports Fan: Black Sheep Edition
Game Four – sweep or spoil. After a delicious dinner at The Rittenhouse Tavern, I walked over to one of my favorite Center City bars—Black Sheep. Upon my arrival, I was immediately disappointed. Not only did I walk in during the second period when Bryz was sent to the bench, but also Black Sheep was host’s microphone made the loss even harder to take. Thoughts:
Crowded? Not really, I’ve been there on busier Wednesday nights. Tables were filled but no standing crowd until the middle of the third period when a huge group coming from the Wells Fargo Center arrived.
Diverse crowd? 2nd period: young groups; 3rd period: drunks from the game.
Variety of beer? 9 on draft, plenty by bottle—but a $30 bar bill for four beers between me and a friend—downside.
Food? Didn’t eat because I came from a dinner but from memory, their steak sandwich is one of the best.
TVs? 6 TVs, no sound….don’t forget there was Quizzo.
Overall energy? The Quizzo master had a lot of energy, but the wind was taken out of my sails by the pitiful performance of my Fly-boys.
Black Sheep gets a C+, and the plus is only because I love this bar. But, last night between the Quizzo, steep bar tab, and lousy loss—I wish I had stayed in.
