SPIN 5K Creates a Life of Possibilities

On Saturday, April 14th, friends, families and supporters of SPIN gathered at the Industrial Park of Northeast Philadelphia for SPIN’s 1st Annual Possibilities in the Park 5K! The weather could not have been more beautiful as both 5K and one-mile participants ran, walked, and rolled around SPIN’s campus and surrounding neighborhood. The SPIN Choir created tons of smiles as they opened the awards ceremony with “You’re a Shining Star” and “It’s the Climb,” and thirty participants were awarded for their achievements in their race category. After the 5K, many people enjoyed the family-friendly festival and purchased goodies from the four food trucks that came to the event from Center City.  Each truck generously donated 10% of their proceeds to SPIN. Everything the trucks sold looked delicious, so I tested something from each: A bite of the Easy Caprese from Say Cheese Philadelphia, The Godfather Sandwich from Lil Dan’s, and a Flank Steak Foowich from Foo Truck. Then, I finished lunch with a red velvet cupcake from Sweet Box. DELICIOUS! With the support of approximately 460 registrants, the 5K raised $40,565 to help SPIN’s efforts to provide services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and developmental disabilities. We can’t wait for next year!

A special thanks to the event’s sponsors who helped make the SPIN 5K possible:
